A New Perspective:
Sam's Volunteer Story

Every Wednesday for the past four months, Sam is upstairs at the Innovation Center in Scranton teaching Bible studies and having real conversations with guests about God, salvation, and life.

Originally from New Jersey, Sam is enrolled at Clarks Summit University and is one year away from completing his master’s in education. After graduation, he plans on teaching high school students Bible and Theology.

He is currently completing his pastoral internship through Keystone Mission where he is learning communication is more than the presentation; it is taking the time to listen to each guest.

“They have big stories and ask beautiful questions.”

Being immersed in this culture has given Sam a new perspective when it comes to the power of Christ and how he handles his own anxieties.

“I have a new mindset… [the guests] are so calm despite their circumstances.”

At the end of his internship, Sam plans to return and continue to build relationships with the homeless, hungry, and hurting people in Northeast PA.
