You can make a change as a volunteer!
Thank you for your interest in volunteering.
Here are some of the available volunteer opportunities you can become a part of:
In both locations, we offer the Good News of Jesus alongside every hot meal. This program supplements the spiritual and physical needs of our guests. We offer meals in both locations on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas regardless of the day of the week it falls on. For each meal, you can help provide a meal, serve a meal, or both.
You can also volunteer to provide the Gospel message at our meals.
Please note: if a group wishes to volunteer by serving a meal all members of the group must complete a volunteer application. Please email the application page to all members of your group.
Food Bank, Clothing, Kids Klothes Line
On different days at each location, we offer several different distribution events. You can help provide support to provide physical needs to those in need in our community. Keystone Mission’s distribution programs often reach out to a different type of guest than our meals. Guests attending our distribution programs are able to take the donated items back to their families. This makes the impact of these programs immediately exponential. In these programs, guests are able to ‘shop’ for their items meaning guests only take the items they use. This allows us to spread limited resources to the most amount of guests possible and the resources are not wasted.
Food Bank: This program provides non-perishable and occasionally meat food items to our guests. We have also had great success with a fresh produce distribution in our Wilkes Barre location. Additional volunteers help us increase this program.
Clothing Distribution: We provide donated clothing to guests.
Kids Klothes Line: This program allows parents of young children to obtain clothing, diapers, and occasionally formula. Formula and diapers are items that are often in rare supply. We provide as much as we can to families in need. Diapers are in such need they are rationed out to guests so that the most guests possible can take advantage of donations.
Data Entry & Office Support
Do you enjoy crunching numbers and organizing data? Many might be surprised to find out how important data is to the Mission. Data helps us tell the story of how people are helped and create a path of change for our guests. At both Scranton and Wilkes Barre locations, you can help enter Message and a Meal, Food Bank, Clothing Distribution, and Kid’s Klothes Line guests into our guest system. Program schedules vary based on location. You can also help the Mission by providing office support at both locations (the schedules for office support are much more flexible).
Youth Program – currently only offered in Wilkes Barre
Our youth program provides a safe place for elementary age children to play, get homework help, and learn about God and His word. You can have a real impact in the lives of the children visiting this program. This program runs Tuesdays-Thursdays from 3-5pm.
Please note, due to legal requirements, there are several required clearances to work with children. We will help walk you through the process, but please contact us as soon as possible so there is a proper amount of time to obtain these clearances.
Do you have a skill that can help our guests? Maybe it is a life skill, professional skill, or ability to teach the Bible. Mentors help provide one-on-one instruction for our adult guests.
