Giving HELP & HOPE

to the broken & homeless in nepa

HEAR FROM THE CEO

WELCOME LETTER FROM THE CEO

Justin-Behrens

Hello friend,

I am glad you chose to visit our website. Keystone Mission desires to partner with community members, like yourself, to provide HELP and HOPE to the men and women who are broken and experiencing homelessness in NEPA. So, let’s take action together!

You have a few ways to “TAKE ACTION” at the Keystone Mission.

In the FIRST OPTION, you can become a FINANCIAL PARTNER. Your generous gift not only keeps the lights on, but it gives that man or woman, who has no one else in their life, build community with our staff, volunteers, and community agencies inside our walls. In addition, you’ll have opportunities to read stories from guests and testimonies from staff and volunteers on what is being accomplished by your gift.

THE SECOND OPTION, you can become a VOLUNTEER. Come on the front lines with our staff and work in our Scranton Day Center, become a Meal provide on Friday–Monday for our Message and a Meal program, or help out with administration work. You each have gifts that can help provide HELP and HOPE.

THE THIRD OPTION, you can leave a lasting legacy by praying for us, host a fundraiser in conjunction with us, become a sponsor for an upcoming event, or Leave a Legacy through your will or estate. These gifts will continue the support in the community for years to come.

No matter how you TAKE ACTION, I am eternally grateful you decided to partner with us. As a partner, you are taking a stand to help build relationships with the men and women who are broken and homeless. You are also providing a second chance and opportunity to them to become productive members of society.

Thank you & God bless,

Justin V. Behrens, LSW

CEO & Executive Director

OUR MOTIVE & DRIVING FORCE

WORDS OF JESUS CHRIST

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. ~ Matthew 25:35–36 (NIV)

HOW WE TAKE ACTION

OUR PROGRAMS

TEAM AGAPE

Team Agape, the outreach initiative, goes out on the road directly to the men and women and begins building relationships. The team has a vehicle that is fully stocked with food, clothes, and bedding to give support while on the road.

The Team Agape van also has technology (internet, computer, and printer) so the team can help a guest obtain their government ID or an appointment to a medical provider, right on the spot.

The word “AGAPE” is greek and means “the highest form of love.” Our desire is for the guests to understand that not only do we love them, but God the Father deeply loves them. Team Agape goes out to show that same “agape” love to each guest they encounter.

SCRANTON DAY CENTER

At 12 West Olive Street, the Scranton Day Center is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., ready to continue building relationships with the guests that walk through our doors.

Services available at the Day Center are obtaining a Government ID, access to medical appointments, Biblical Training, Life Skill Training, Self-Care, and more.

Volunteer at the Day Center and work alongside our staff with the guests. Help serve Breakfast and Lunch or just sit to be a listening ear to a guest. We are in the business of building relationships.

TRANSFORMATION CENTER

We are undergoing renovations at our Wilkes-Barre facility. It will become the New 15-bed Transformation Center that will provide men in NEPA an opportunity to transform their lives back to productive members of society.

The men who enroll in the center will have access to a private room, clothes, food, and structured programming that will lead them to long-term sustainability and independence. Our desire is for the men to give back after they completed the program and are in a place to live on their own.

The Transformation Center will open in 2022. The program is available to men all across Northeastern Pennsylvania.
