Every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday at 5:30pm we offer free meals to homeless, hungry, and hurting people in our area. All meals at Keystone Mission are provided by local groups and organizations that prepare and serve these meals to our guests.
Many who come to Keystone Mission for help come to discover the underlying challenges which led them to homelessness. Challenges like unemployment, addiction, past trauma or abuse.
Community meals are facilitated in both the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre locations. Four nights per week, hot meals are provided to anyone who attends. This is made possible because of the partnerships with over 50 volunteer groups who provide food and serve each month.
After School Youth Program
Keystones youth program runs every Tuesday-Thursday after school in our Wilkes-Barre location. The program was started in 2014 to give a safe place for a kids and establish a place of hope for children at Sherman Hills.
The program currently runs from 3-5 and accepts children 5-13. The program has quickly grown from 2o children registered in spring of 2018 to over 60 children registered now. The youth program includes homework help, a bible lesson, games, and snack time.
The program is currently run by Kathy Regan. We have multiple volunteers in addition to Kathy who helps to make a difference in the lives of these kids. Is this something you are interested in helping out with? Let us know on the volunteer page!
On the second and fourth weeks of the month we distribute food in both of our locations.
Distributions are: TBD in Scranton and Fridays from 12:00-2:00pm in Wilkes-Barre.
Food is essential for those living in or near homelessness. In addition to hot meals, our food distribution program is able to provide a shopping style environment for our guests.
We are able to stock critical bags of groceries to families choosing between food and rent. This food often helps in making ends meet as well. We provide this service thanks to businesses, organizations and other individual donors. Selection does vary based on donations received.
